Shams al-Maarif al-Kubra and al-Buni

"The Great Sun of Knowledge: The book that sparks terror and mystery through the ages

Can a book ruin your life?

The question may sound strange, but it opens the door to one of the most controversial tales in Arab and Islamic history. Imagine holding a book like no other, a book that is said to hold secrets about jinns, mysteries, and rituals that may open doors you can never close. Would you dare to browse through it? Or would fear wrap around your heart as soon as you hear its name?

This is The Great Sun of Knowledge, a book whose name has been associated for centuries with awe and betting on the unknown. A book that still stands today on the boundary between myth and truth, between lost science and dark magic.

*The story of a controversial book: Who is the Pawnee?

The book is attributed to Ahmad ibn Ali al-Buni, a man who lived in the thirteenth century AD. He was no ordinary figure; he was an accomplished scholar in astronomy, mathematics, mysticism, and even letter science. However, the greatest mystery surrounds the years he spent away from people. He is said to have retreated into long retreats where he wrote his most famous book, amid whispers of hidden communication with invisible beings.

Al-Buni was not only a magician in the eyes of his contemporaries, but also a dual personality; a religious scholar on the one hand, and a researcher of secrets that others dare not touch on the other. This duality is what made Shams al-Maarif come to light surrounded by suspicion and fear.

*The Journey of Copying: A book that lives in the shadows*

The Sun of Knowledge was not available to everyone. Original copies were rare and often circulated in secret among those who were into magic or seeking power, as if whoever copied it wanted to leave the reader in a labyrinth. Some manuscripts were deliberately incomplete or mutilated, as if whoever copied them wanted to leave the reader in a labyrinth.

History tells us that religious and political authorities in different times banned its circulation and even destroyed copies of it for fear of its influence on people. Perhaps this prohibition is what increased the aura of mystery around it, because everything that is forbidden becomes more desirable.

*The subtleties of content: What's hiding between the pages?

More than just written texts, the book is a strange encyclopaedia that combines talismans, prayers, astrological calculations, and ritual instructions. Some chapters explain how to conjure spirits through letters and numbers, while others link the positions of the stars to a person's ability to control his or her destiny.

Even more controversial are the so-called "Qur'anic secrets" it contains. Al-Buni interprets certain verses in a symbolic manner, claiming that they carry hidden references that can be used in supernatural works. Herein lies the greatest fear: The manipulation of sacred texts for occult purposes.

*Jinns, angels, and spells*

No discussion of Shams al-Maarif is complete without mentioning jinns and angels. The book deals with ways to allegedly summon non-human forces for help, revenge, money and love. Some consider this to be mere fantasy, while others insist that it is a dangerous door that should not be opened.

## *Horror stories and experiences: When humans knock on the doors of the forbidden*

Over the years, people have passed down stories of people who have tried to delve deeper into the Sun of Knowledge.

- An ambitious young man fell into the trap: Someone bought a copy of an old manuscript in the market, out of curiosity. Weeks later, he started hearing strange noises at night and saw shadows moving in his room. He ended up in a psychiatric hospital.

- *Haunted Family Home*: In a remote village, a family tries to use the book's talismans to make money. What happened next was more like a horror film: Footsteps in the corridors, objects moving on their own, and a horror that forced the family to flee for their lives.

These stories, whether true or just rumours, cemented the book's reputation as one of the most dangerous works in history.

*Scientists and Warnings*

Islamic scholars are almost unanimous in their prohibition of dealing with this book, emphasising that it is full of sorcery and talismans that have nothing to do with Islam. Some of them went further, saying that those who apply what is in the book may expose themselves to disbelief.

On the other hand, there are those who consider it just an ordinary book around which legends have been woven, and that the horror of it is more a product of the collective imagination than reality.

*Puzzle of the original*

One of the most intriguing points is that the first edition of Shams al-Ma'arif has not been found until today. Was it deliberately hidden? Was it burned? Or was it buried with its author? Some popular accounts go further, saying that the jinn took it with them so that it would not fall into the hands of humans.

*Between fact and legend*

The book has become a dual symbol: Some see it as a key to unknown worlds, others see it as an example of the danger of human curiosity when it oversteps its bounds. It may not have been read by most of those who chant its name, but its mere mention is enough to inspire awe.

*Conclusion: Killer Curiosity*

"The Great Sun of Knowledge is not just a book; it is a mirror that reflects man's eternal fear of the unknown. For hundreds of years now, it continues to spark debates between those who see it as a myth and those who swear they have experienced it.

But the undeniable fact is that human curiosity can sometimes lead us down paths of no return. Is a book worth risking your mind and soul for?

This question may remain unanswered, just as Shams Al Maarif has remained a mystery without end...
